Bangladesh vs England, 3rd ODI  – Bangladesh Beat England by 50 Runs 

The England Vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI was held on 6th march 2023 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. For the first time since 2016, Bangladesh has lost a home ODI series, bringing their run of seven successive series wins to a grinding halt. Both the team were ready to set a tough competition.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. The first inning started with Tamim and Litton Das at the crease, and Sam Curran from England opened the attack. Litton Das lost his early wicket in the 5th ball of the first over. While Tamim was also dismissed by Sam Curran in the 3rd over. After the wicket of both openers, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur took the rope in their hand and scored 34 runs in 10 overs. Both the players remained on the crease and took the run score to 88 runs in 20 overs.

Shanto completed his 50 in the 24th over. He aimed to chase a good run score, but Rehan Ahmed dismissed him in the 24th over, and he left the field after 53(71). However, Mushfiqur reached fifty at the same over. With the efforts of Mushfiqur and Shakin Al Hasan, Bangladesh scored 144-3 in 30 overs.

Adil Rasheed credited the most crucial wicket of Mushfiqur to his account in the 33rd over. Affif Hossain and Shkib Ali took the Bangladesh team to 190 runs, losing 5 wickets in 40 overs. Also, Shakib Ali completed his fifty in the 44th over. Afif tried to hit a big score, but Woakes dismissed him in the same over. In the last 5 overs, Jofra Archer took wicket after wicket and dismissed all the Bangladesh batters. Bangladesh ended up in the first inning at 246-10.

The second inning started with Roy and Phillip Salt from England at the crease, and Mustafizur opened the attack. The first review was taken in the first ball of the second inning for LBW. However, it was declared as no bat on ultra edge. The first wicket was taken in the 9th over by Shakib. Philip Salt was gone at 35(25). Ebadot Hossain dismissed Malan before even allowing him to run a single score. With this, England scored 55 runs in the 10 overs.

James Vince and Sam Curran came to the crease, took the rope of the match in their hand, and crossed 90 runs in 20 overs. Their 48 runs partnership ended when Mehidy dismissed Sam Curran in the 24th over. James Venice also left the crease in the 27th over at 38 runs in 44 balls. The team’s expectation was disturbed when Ebadot Ali dismissed the most crucial wicket of Moeen Ali in the 28th over.

Jos Buttler tried to settle on the crease but could not go far as Taijul Islam dismissed him in the 35th over at 26(24).  After Jos Buttler, England started losing wickets and all their wickets in 43.1 overs and could not complete the target and manage to add only 196 on the scoreboard. With this, Bangladesh won the match by 50 runs.
