Pakistan Super League, 2023: Lahore Qalandars Triumphed Over Islamabad United by 110 Runs
Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United came up against each other in the 16th match of PSL. Lahore Qalandars won the match and decided to bat first.
Mirza Baig and Fakhar Zaman came against each other and Zeeshan Zameer opened the bowling attack. Mirza Baig hit a four and it was the first boundary of the match. Lahore played very well in the powerplay and didn’t lose any wickets. Lahore reached 50 runs in the 6th over. After 6 overs, LHQ was at 57-0.
Mirza Baig got out after scoring 20(17) in the 7th over. Fakhar Zaman got out after scoring 36(23 in the 8th over. In the 11th over, Billings hit back-to-back two fours on the first two balls and Shafique hit back-to-back two fours on the last two balls. Lahore reached 100 runs. In the 13th over, Shafique hit two fours and one six. After 13 overs, Lahore was at 129-2.
Shafique got out after scoring 45(24) on the fourth ball. In the 15th over, Talat hit a four and got out on the fourth ball. In the 16th over, Billings hit a four on the first ball and got out on the second ball after scoring 33(23). After 16 overs, LHQ was at 149-5.
In the 17th over, Wiese hit back-to-back two boundaries and got out on the next ball after scoring 12(6). Raza hit back-to-back two boundaries on the last two balls. In the 20th over, Rashid Khan hit a four and got out on the next ball after scoring 18(12) and Lahore reached 200 runs on the last ball.
In 20 overs, Lahore Qalandars scored 200 runs with a loss of 7 wickets.
Chasing 201 runs, Munro and Gurbaz came to the crease and Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling attack. He gave away two wides, which went for a boundary. Gurbaz hit a four in the second over and it was the first boundary for Islamabad United. Gurbaz got out after scoring 23(17) in the 4th over. In the 5th over, Munro hit two boundaries and Islamabad reached 50 runs.
Munro got out after scoring 18(14) in the 6th over. van der Dussen got out after scoring 3(6) in the 7th over. In the 8th over, Shadab Khan got out after scoring 4(6). In the 9th over, Asif Ali got out after scoring 3(4). Islamabad fell from a strong position and lost five wickets after adding 27 runs. Islamabad kept losing wickets and got all out at 90 runs and lost the match by 110 runs.
