Nissanka and Kusal Mendis unveiled the batting attack on the opening bowling from Hardik Pandya. In the 2nd over, Nissanka and Mendis got two boundaries and a six. After 3 overs, Sri Lanka got a score of 32. After 6 overs, SL crossed the half-century with a score of 55.

In the 8th over, Mendis crossed his 50-run stand and Mendis & Nissanka a six and a four respectively, jumping to a score of 80. Scoring 52 in 31 balls, Mendis lost his wicket to Chahal. After 10 overs, Sri Lanka jumped to a score of 89-2.

Adding 33 runs off 35 balls, Nissanka lost his wicket to Axar and the right-handed batter, Dhananjaya de Silva came to the middle. After 13 overs, SL crossed the century with a score of 107-3. In the 15th over from Chahal, Asalanka slammed two back-to-back sixes, reaching a score of 129-4.

In the 16th over from Umran Malik, Asalanka hit the six and lost his wicket and Hasaranga also got a dismissal, getting to a score of 138-6 after 16 overs. In the 18th over from Malik, Shanaka crunched a four and two sixes.

In 20 overs, Sri Lanka posted 206 runs with a loss of 6 wickets.
