South Africa vs West Indies: WI Take 1-0 Lead in T20I Series Against SA With 3 Wickets Win

The first T20I of SA vs WI series was played at SuperSport Park Centurion. WI won the toss and opted to field. The match was reduced to 11 overs for each side due to rain. The South African batsmen had the freedom to play from the get-go because the game was an 11-over affair, and they concluded with an impressive 131 on the board. When Quinton de Kock was taken advantage of by a golden duck, Hendricks and Markram delivered some solid strikes to get the action started. But the final three overs were where West Indies really suffered. As many as 60 runs were scored off the last three with Miller whacking it to all parts. He smashed 48 off just 22, while Magala scored 18 off 5 to finish with a bang.

In the run chase, WI has a massive target of 132 to chase and most of the batters in the team are used to of T10 format. The target seemed chasable for them. Although they had a challenging 132-run goal in front of them, it briefly appeared too simple when Magala bowled a superb last over to keep South Africa in the game. In the powerplay, Brandon King took off like a goods train, and everyone who came behind him kept delivering heavy blows. Rovman Powell eventually guided his team to victory with a score of 43 off 18 balls.

Heave, that was a frantic 11-over race where every ball was a spectacle. And in the fight at Centurion, the winner is the West Indies. At the same location tomorrow, both teams will resume play. Do come along then.
