Team India 2023 Schedule: India to host series against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia
Cricket is a dynamic and ever-changing game where developments and changes keep taking place. The schedule for the coming year will be golden for the audience and the players, which also includes the Ashes cricket. Just when we think that the cricketing fever has come to an end the BCCI has released a schedule of all the upcoming fixtures for the Indian men’s team for 2023 which is again igniting excitement among the people about the T20 world cup live score. 2022 wasn’t the best year for the Indian team. Early knockout from the Asia cup and a semi final defeat against England in the World cup semifinal took a significant toll on the Indian team. Virat Kohli’s exit from captaincy in all formats cost the Indian team mentally. Multiple captains, Star player injuries, unstable team setup, and management matters have been the story of the Indian cricket team for 2022. But with high hopes and a fresh start, the Indian team is hoping to get back on track, keeping in mind that the 2023 cricket world cup is not far.
- India’s series against Sri Lanka
The Indian team will start its 2023 campaign by taking on the recent Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka, beginning on January 3. India will be hosting the neighbours for 3 T20Is and 3ODIs. Considering Sri Lanka’s current T20 record in the subcontinent, it’ll be foolish to write them off. The Sri Lankan team will start their campaign at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where they will play their first T20 match. The 2nd T20 is set to be played at Pune, followed by the third at Rajkot, Gujarat. Keeping in mind that Sri Lanka is a robust T20 team the Indian team will come with all guns blazing against their neighbours in the T20s. Hardik Pandya is likely to lead the side for the T20s against Sri Lanka amid Rohit Sharma’s thumb injury against Bangladesh. The Indian team is expected to play a fearless brand of cricket under its new captain. Followed by the T20Is, the Indian team is also set to play 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka starting from January 10. The campaign will start in Guwahati, followed by Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram, respectively. The series will be very important for both sides keeping in mind that the 2023 world cup is around the corner. The Indian team especially will try to capture this opportunity by creating the right combinations and selecting the brand of cricket that they want to present. With chances of Bumrah returning the Indian team will be expected to seal the series against Sri Lanka.
- India’s series against New Zealand After their T20I and ODI series with Sri Lanka, the Indian team will continue to host the Kiwis. Starting on January 18, the Indian team will play 3 ODIs against the Kiwis. They’ll begin their campaign from Hyderabad on the 18th, followed by Raipur and Indore, respectively. The last was when the kiwis were hosted by the Indian team New Zealand was baffled by the strength of the Indian batting and bowling lineup, but the tables can turn quickly this time. With a strong batting lineup and a star-packed bowling lineup, New Zealand will eye to win their long-awaited ODI series against India in their backyard. While the Indian team will be just focused on dominating New Zealand as always, given that they’ll be playing in their home conditions. Once the ODIs are over, both teams will then move toward the shorter format to test each other’s calibre. India will be playing 3 T20Is against New Zealand in Ranchi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad respectively. The series will start on January 27 as soon as they’re done with the ODI series. Given the conditions and the players, this series is expected to be a thriller since players from both teams have played a lot of cricket in this format in India, and home conditions won’t be much of an advantage here for the Indian team. A series definitely to watch out for.
- India’s series against Australia
No matter what format you play, the real test lies in the Test format. The mighty Aussies, the No.1 test Team in the world, will be visiting India for the Infamous Border-Gavaskar trophy. The Aussies will play four tests starting from Nagpur on February 9. The second, third and fourth test matches will be played in Delhi, Dharamshala, and Ahmedabad, respectively. The series is very important for both sides as India will try to retain their trophy while the Aussies will try to gain their control back on the Border – Gavaskar series. The Indian team hasn’t lost a single test series in the last ten years, which is surreal. To beat India at home is a challenge more significant than winning any world cup, and as rightly expected, Aussies will try to take the Gabba’s revenge and defeat India at their home. The test series will be a thriller to watch, not to forget the history that both these sides have on the field. Banters will be heard, sledging will be done, but most importantly top, quality cricket will be witnessed. Before starting the summer and the IPL season, the Indian team will take on the Aussies for a 3-match ODI series starting on March 17. The three matches will be played in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai, respectively. Both teams will be pretty acquainted with the conditions given that Aussies know the Indian states quite well and have previously defeated India in an ODI series at their home. Star-packed players will play aiming to test the turf of both teams as the Aussies are one of the favorites for next year’s ODI world cup but beating the Indian team at home in the ODI format is a tough job, and nobody knows it better than the Aussies.
