Cricketer Abraham Benjamin de Villiers was born on February 17, 1984, and played for South Africa. During his 15 years of international career, AB De Villiers won three ICC ODI Player of the Year awards. At the end of 2019, he was also named one of the top five cricketers of the last ten years by Wisden. One of the finest cricket players in the sport's history. De Villiers has progressed through the ranks to be among the best and most versatile batsmen in the world across all formats. In his initial Test series, he batted both as an opener and a lower-order wicketkeeper/batsman, but he quickly established his value by scoring 460 runs during his first away tour to the Caribbean Islands in 2005.
His Test Debut was on 17th December 2004 where he played against England. His ODI debut was on 2nd February 2005 which was again against England. In the year 2006, his first appearance in T20 matches was seen on 24th Feb which was against Australia.
AB de Villiers, the only foreign player to play in every IPL season since it began, has officially ended his professional career. De Villiers has scaled mountains that very few people have even dared to dream about in a career that has seen it all. He retires as one of the best players in the brief history of the IPL.

De Villiers recorded a poor score in the opening innings of the last Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground after only scoring 11 runs in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, De Villiers scored a patient half-century in the second innings of that Test as South Africa nearly managed to hold on for an unlikely draw.
De Villiers was appointed as the captain of South Africa's ODI and T20 teams in June, following their elimination from the 2011 World Cup. He quit leading the T20 team in early 2013 due to the strain and pressure, although he kept playing as South Africa's primary batsman and first-choice wicket-keeper.
On January 11, 2012, at Paarl, AB played in his maiden international game as captain, an ODI against Sri Lanka.
In 103 one-day internationals, he has led South Africa and has won 59 of them. The Proteas advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup under his leadership.

Since 2003, AB de Villiers has played for the Northerns in the South African First Class league. Before the selectors chose de Villiers to face the challenges of international Test matches, he had competed in 16 first-class matches.
