One of the most significant cricketers in Indian history is Sourav Ganguly. On July 8, 1972, Sourav Chandidas Ganguly, India's renowned cricketer, was born. He resides in Kolkata, India. He is the 39th President of the BCCI and a former captain of the Indian national team. He is often referred to as Dada. He used to bowl medium pace and was a left-handed batsman. He also bowls right-handed. To utilize his brother Snehasish's cricket gear, Ganguly, normally a right-handed batter, switched to left-handedness when he was very young. He is affectionately known as the "Prince of Kolkata. " He was given the nickname ‘Bengal Tiger’ because of his birthplace and the way he played.

Chandidas and NirupaGanguly welcomed Sourav Ganguly into the world on July 8, 1972, in Calcutta, India. His father passed away on February 21, 2013, due to illness. His mother, however, was not a big fan of his choosing athletics as a vocation. Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav's elder brother, and a seasoned cricketer at the time encouraged Sourav to pursue his passion for playing the game and convinced their father to enroll Sourav in a summer coaching camp. In 1997, he and Dona Roy, a childhood friend, escaped their disagreeing families. They got married on February 1997. Sana Ganguly is their daughter who was born on November 2001.
Initially, Ganguly started playing state and university sports. After competing in several local Indian competitions, including the Ranji and Duleep trophies, Ganguly finally had his big break when representing India on their tour of England. In one of the matches, he scored 131 runs. It gave him a position in the Indian team. After putting up strong performances in the series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia and receiving Man of the Match honors, Ganguly's spot in the team was secured.
In the test series against England, SouravGanguly got a century to mark his test series debut. He accomplished it on the third day of the second Test, which was taking place at Lord's Cricket Ground. Ganguly entered the batting order at number three and scored 131 runs off 301 balls, including 20 boundaries, marking his success's beginning.
Making a century back then wasn't simple, and getting one in Australia's backyard was considerably harder. In 2003–04, with India down 62–3, Ganguly stood strong and produced a magnificent 144-ball knock. With this, India was able to take the lead. Dada had a remarkable test debut against England in 1996 with his fluid offside strokes. He scored 131 runs and became the tenth Indian and the only one to reach a century in a test match.
The Chappell-Ganguly issue resulted from a string of incidents in late 2005 and early 2006, including a widely publicized rivalry between captain Sourav Ganguly and then-newly hired coach Greg Chappell in the Indian cricket squad. The BCCI will be without Sourav Ganguly as President. According to the TMC, Ganguly was also being targeted by the BJP since he refused to join them. Later, the BJP refuted the assertion.
ODI and T20
Ganguly captained India to their first-ever series victories in ODI’s in Pakistan, an achievement that had evaded India for fifty years. In the 2001 Border-Gavaskar trophy, he captained the Indian team to victory over Steve Waugh's Australia, which was his career's biggest triumph.
Test
One of India's all-time greatest captains is Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly captained the Indian team in 49 Test Matches, winning 21, including 12 matches played outside India.
