Asia Cup 2022 Introduction

The 2022 Asia Cup was the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, played in the United Arab Emirates during August and September 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed to July 2020. It was originally scheduled for September 2020.

Following this, it was rescheduled for June 2021 in Sri Lanka, before being postponed again. Initially, Pakistan was supposed to host the 2022 edition after retaining the rights. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022, and Pakistan would host the tournament in 2023. In this edition, India lost to Australia in the Super Four stage, as defending champions.

In the final, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs, winning the title for the sixth time and first ever in T20I. 'Wanindu Hasranga' took top honors for Sri Lanka's spin bowling team and also won the 'Man of the Tournament award for his best performances.
