The Australian cricket team toured India in September 2022 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches as a preparatory series before the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2022 and returned in February and March 2023 for four Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs). It was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in August 2022 that the T20I series would be held. According to the BCCI, the schedule for the Tests and ODIs was confirmed on December 8, 2022. This series of Test matches will form part of the ICC World Test Championship for the period 2021-2023.
In the first T20I, Australia won by four wickets, leading the series 1–0. In the second Twenty20 International, a wet outfield reduced the innings to eight overs per side, with India winning by six wickets. In the third and final T20I, India won by six wickets, thereby winning the series 2–1.
