The Indian Cricket Team traveled to Zimbabwe in August 2022 to perform in three One Day International (ODI) matches. The ODI series was a component of the first ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, which was played from 2020 to 2023. The series took place in August 2020, but the BCCI announced it in June 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The series, though, was rescheduled for August 2022 in July 2022. The Harare Sports Club served as the venue for all of the games.
Initially, Shikhar Dhawan was announced as India’s Captain. On August 11, however, BCCI issued a media brief announcing that KL Rahul will captain the team because he had passed all medical examinations, while Dhawan serving as vice-captain.
Washington Sundar's shoulder injury sustained while representing Lancashire in a 2022 Royal London One-Day Cup match forced him to withdraw from the Indian team. His replacement was introduced as Shahbaz Ahmed.
